Here are the WWE SmackDown Live results for January 8, 2019. The show featured The Miz and Shane McMahon being awarded a tag team title match, a new No. 1 contender for Asuka's Women's title was named and more.

WWE SmackDown Live Results:

- Daniel Bryan cut a promo on AJ Styles from the concession stand and talked down the WWE Universe. Bryan made his way through the crowd to ringside when R-Truth attacked him.

1. Daniel Bryan defeated R-Truth. Bryan connected on the running knee for the pinfall victory. After the match, as he was making his way up the entrance ramp, AJ Style attacked him from behind and ran him off.

2. Samoa Joe and Andrade "Cien" Almas defeated Rey Mysterio and Mustafa Ali. Almas reversed Mysterio's 619 attempt with the La Sombra for the pinfall.

- The Miz tried to talk Shane McMahon into giving them a tag team title shot. Shane said the two needed to earn it.

- Rusev announced that Lana isn't at SmackDown after getting injured in his brawl with Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura went to the tv truck to show that he wasn't responsible for the injury. As Rusev went to the back to attack Nakamura, the former champ attacked Rusev backstage.

3. If The Usos Win, They Earn a Future Tag Team Titles Match: The Bar defeated The Usos. Mandy Rose distracted Jimmy Uso, allowing Sheamus to knock him off the apron and Cesaro to hit the Neutralizer on Jey Uso for the pinfall. After the match, The Miz tried to talk the Bar into defending the tag titles against him and Shane McMahon at the Royal Rumble. Sheamus hit the Brogue Kick before Cesaro accepted.

- Naomi attacked Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville backstage before they turned the tables and beat her down. Jimmy Uso made the save and called them off.

4. SmackDown Live Women's No. 1 Contender Match: Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair and Carmella. Carmella tapped out Carmella with the Dis-arm-her to earn a title shot at the Royal Rumble against Asuka. After the match, Asuka came down to the ring and confronted Lynch.
